Mauritius Sends Trade Delegation To Zimbabwe

A high-level trade delegation will be coming to Zimbabwe from Mauritius to engage the country’s business community for stronger trade relations between the two countries.

The delegation is part of an initiative of the Economic Development Board of Mauritius (EDB) and will be in Zimbabwe from 15 to 16 April. The EDB is Mauritius’s apex trade, investment & financial services institution. Before coming to Harare the delegation will be in Lusaka, Zambia, where a similar exercise is happening from 11 to 12 April.

Said Rajen Subbamah, the Africa Strategy Lead at the EDB, who will be spearheading the delegation:

“Mauritius is very keen to expand trade & investment opportunities in the region; Zambia and Zimbabwe are high potential markets that are ready for greater trade and investment.”

15 Mauritian companies will be part of the delegation.

Said Denford Mutashu,  President of The Confederation of Zimbabwe Retailers:

“Along with promoting the uptake of local products, it is also imperative for the 260 Million strong consumer market of SADC, +600 Million COMESA market and greater African Continental Free Trade Area to witness increased intra trade as this expands addressable markets of our producers”.
