Cyclone Idai: Sniffer Dogs Identify 23 Points Of Interest In Kopa & Ngangu

Sniffer dogs brought by a team from South Africa to help in locating and recovery of the bodies of victims of Cyclone Idai have so far identified 23 points in Ngangu and Kopa where the remains could be buried under rubble.

This was revealed by the Manicaland provincial administrator Edgars Seenza. He said that 12 points have been identified in Kopa while 11 were marked in Ngangu, both areas are in Chimanimani district.

While briefing senior government officials who visited Manicaland over the weekend to assess the progress that has been made to date, Seenza said;

The search team has managed to identify 23 points in total in Ngangu and Kopa and we are expecting two more dogs from Malcolm team from South Africa.

However, the teams’ progress is being hampered by poor a network and mounds of rubble from collapsed buildings and earth flows.
