Freemasons Donate £45,000 To Cyclone Idai Survivors

The leading fraternal organization in the world, Freemasons, through its charity organisation, the Masonic Charitable Foundation has donated £45,000 to survivors of Tropical Cyclone Idai in three countries, namely Mozambique, Malawi and Zimbabwe.

The donation was made through Plan International UK which is working to help survivors, including young women and children, who are at particular risk.

The donation bt Freemason will provide jerry cans, water purification tablets and buckets to people who are at risk to waterborne diseases such as cholera, typhoid and dysentery as well as bilharzia, sleeping sickness and malaria.

This generous grant will make a big difference to thousands of people affected by this devastating cyclone and help get their lives back on track.

David Innes, Chief Executive of the Masonic Charitable Foundation had this to say:

Cyclone Idai has devastated the lives of many thousands of people, with, as usual, women and children bearing the brunt of the suffering.

I’m very pleased that the Masonic Charitable Foundation was able to move so quickly and provide funds for Plan International UK’s vital work at the heart of the disaster zone.

Cyclone Idai has killed over 750 people across the three African countries and displaced thousands more. Several hundred are still unaccounted for.
