Chamisa Implores SADC To Hear Him Out

MDC president Nelson Chamisa visited Botswana and South Africa recently in a bid to persuade the regional leaders to help break the impasse among the country’s major political players.

SADC leaders, especially Namibian President and the regional organisation chair, Hage Heingob and South Africa’s Cyril Ramaphosa are thought to be sympathetic to President Emerson Mnangagwa’s administration.

Chamisa has implored regional leaders to listen to the MDC’s side, rather than getting the Zimbabwean situation from Mnangagwa only. Said Chamisa:

We feel that there has been an attempt on the part of Sadc, the chairperson of Sadc, the President of Namibia [Hage Heingob], to listen to one side.

We feel that in order to have a perfect picture of what is happening in Zimbabwe, you must have a perspective from both sides. They must also listen to the MDC and not just Zanu PF.

President Mnangagwa has visited several African countries since assuming office in 2017. He has received SADC’s backing to have the restrictive measures imposed on the country by Western powers removed unconditionally.
