A Cyclone Idai survivor, Amos Makunduwa, gave an account of the sad situation in Manicaland following the devastation by the cyclone.
Speaking to the Washington Post, Makundwa said:
There is death all over. It is beginning to smell really bad. The whole area is like one big body of water, huge rocks and mud. There are no houses, as if no one ever stayed here.
This week, it was confirmed that the death toll has gone beyond 139. The military has said that they expect the number of missing or dead people to be more than 500.
