CAF Says Liberia Vs DRC Match Will Go Ahead In Kinshasa
CAF has rejected Liberia Football Association’s request to have Sunday’s crucial Afcon qualifier moved away from the Democratic Republic (DRC).
Liberia wanted the venue to be changed over fears of an Ebola epidemic in the DRC, but the continental football body says the host city, Kinshasa, is safe and the match will go on as planned.
The match will be played at the Stade des Martyrs in the Congolese capital City.
In an interview with the BBC, Caf’s Director of Competitions, Samson Adamu said:
According to reports, the virus is located very far from Kinshasa, and there is no risk of organising DR Congo versus Liberia match in the said venue as scheduled.

Liberia and the DRC are in the same Group G with Zimbabwe and Congo Brazzaville.
Group G is wide open and any two teams can qualify for this year’s finals in Egypt. Zimbabwe currently leads the pool with eight points and just need to avoid a defeat to Congo.
