Govt Requests Teachers To Donate Towards Independence Day Celebrations

The Progressive Teachers’ Union of Zimbabwe (PTUZ) secretary general Raymond Majongwe has condemned the “extortion” that teachers have to endure at the hands of the government. He demanded the swindling to stop.

A letter was written by the Mrewa District Administrator (DA) to the Education Office requesting educators to donate RTGS$2 towards the Independence Day celebrations.

The DA also requested that the teachers attend the “important” occasion that is to be held at Nhowe Grounds in Mrewa South Constituency.

The request for teachers’ donations comes as the educators are demanding an adjustment to their meagre salaries that have been eaten away by inflation.
