Chamisa Youths Threaten Party Members At Harare Provincial Meeting - Report

MDC Alliance youths backing party president Nelson Chamisa to retain his post at Congress on Friday reportedly gatecrashed the party’s Harare provincial meeting.

The marauding youths threatened to harm members perceived to be seeking to dislodge Chamisa at the forthcoming congress.

According to The Herald, an inside source said:

They threatened to assault (Mr) Murayi and those against (Mr) Chamisa’s presidency by supporting (Mr) Douglas Mwonzora to take over leadership of the party.

They categorically made it clear to those who were in the meeting that they do not want anyone who opposes (Mr) Chamisa to lead the party.

However, Chamisa is on record saying that the post of party presidency is open to all who will be nominated.

Only this past Saturday, Chamisa restrained party supporters when they heckled Mwonzora. He also revealed that he is ready to step down if someone else is elected party president at the elective Congress slated for May.
