Mwonzora Not A Zanu-PF Agent- David Coltart

In an interview with CNBC, David Coltart said he believes MDC secretary general Douglas Mwonzora is not a Zanu-PF agent as alleged by some opposition party members.

He said even though he is backing incumbent leader Nelson Chamisa, Mwonzora must be allowed to contest for any position in the party. Said Coltart:

I think that Nelson Chamisa has demonstrated that he has revived the party and that he enjoys the vast majority of grassroots support and that’s why I back him. But Douglas has the right to contest. It is critically important that we approach that contest in a mature fashion. And this is a problem in opposition politics in Zimbabwe. Every time someone puts their head up above the parapet to challenge a position they are accused of being Zanu agents. I don’t believe that of Douglas. I think its very unfortunate that that has been alleged against him and I hope that rhetoric ends.
