Upgrade, Not Scrap ‘Useless’ Degrees – Govt Told

A South Africa-based human rights and political activist Fortune Mlalazi said that the government should consider upgrading degrees which it considers useless. Said Mlalazi:

Our problems in Zimbabwe are not those so-called useless degrees, but it is the issue of infrastructure and education practitioners that are not well paid.

They must deal with these, instead of scrapping those degrees, but at least introduce degrees with a modern flair as an upgrade of those which they deem useless without affecting the graduands who acquired them.

Mlalazi was responding to reports that the Minister of Higher as Tertiary Education, Amon Murirwa will by August this year scrap degrees from State universities which produce unemployable graduates.

  1. Well said upgrading is really needed to degrees offered due to evolving of technology. Programmes offered should solve our current industrial challenges.
