Political Analysts Chide ZANU PF For Useless & Expensive Solidarity Marches

Political analysts have blasted ZANU PF for planning to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars for a solidarity march in support of President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

The party was scheduled to hold the march on March 2 but reports indicate that it will be held at a future date yet to be announced.

In an interview with the Daily News, Political analyst Maxwell Saungweme said the obscene spending by Zanu PF shows leadership that is out of touch with reality. He said:

It shows our leaders have wrong priorities. They like grandstanding, live in opulence amidst poverty and penury, and display obscene wealth in a sea of misery. We have the wrong people, with wrong priorities at the top.

Our politicians have very little to offer, they would rather show off, grandstand and spend on useless rallies. It’s a scourge in both ruling and the main opposition party.

Another analyst, Piers Pigou, who is International Crisis Group director had this to say:

It looks like a default setting in terms of past rote practices of choreographed praise-singing, intended to demonstrate a major show of strength in the wake of the repression that has received so much negative publicity.
