Chief Magistrate Says Juniors Cannot Preside Over His Trial, Approaches High Court

Chief magistrate Mishrod Guvamombe has made an application for his case to be heard and tried by a High Court judge instead. He is facing charges of criminal abuse of office before the Harare Magistrate’s court

Through his lawyer Jonathan Samukange, he said the magistrate’s at the Magistrate’s court were all his subordinates hence it was more fitting to have him tried at the Higher Court. He is also set to write a letter to the National Prosecuting Authority to apply for the temporary release of his passport. The matter was remanded to March 18.
