ZIMRA To Use Patrols & Roadblocks To Combat Smuggling

The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) is working with other law enforcement agencies in a bid to eradicate the smuggling of goods through the country’s porous borders.

This was revealed by Acting Head Corporate Communications, Mrs Inzwirashe Muwonwa in an interview with State Media last week. She said:

Zimra in collaboration with other law enforcement agencies carries out joint patrols and roadblocks to try to contain the risks posed by the porosity of our borderline.

Any contraband encountered at such exercises is detained and the offenders are dealt with according to the dictates of the Customs & Excise Act Chapter 23:02.

ZIMRA claims to have managed to surpass its set target of US$5 billion in 2018.
