Top Cop Jailed 4 Years For Scalding Wife With Boiling Water
A senior police officer has been sentenced to four years in prison for domestic violence. He will spend three years in jail and one year was suspended on condition of good behaviour.
Simbarashe Sibanda (40), who is the officer-in-charge of Borrowdale Police Station scalded his wife with boiling water during a misunderstanding over the purchase of relish.
In passing the sentence, Harare Magistrate Jessy Kufa said:
You are a law enforcement agent who was looked up to in society because of your rank and you were supposed to lead by example. We have members of civic societies and the government advocating for the eradication of domestic violence and you were required to do the same.
Sibanda poured hot water on his wife, Stella Ruswa who is also a police officer. The two had a misunderstanding over the purchase of meat for dinner.
