First Lady Denies Meddling In Zanu-PF Youth League Affairs

In an interview with NewsDay, First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa denied meddling in Zanu-PF Youth League power struggles.

She said she is not active in Zanu-PF politics since her husband took power in November 2019. Said Mnangagwa:

I was not involved in any manner or form. I am not on a salary that I would get money to throw at Zanu PF internal politics. It’s not in my nature. I have no time for politics and that is why I have disengaged following the ushering in of the new dispensation. I want to concentrate on charity work and please allow me to do that.

Zanu-PF Youth League leaders Lewis Matutu and Pupurai Togarepi confirmed to NewsDay that they met Auxillia on Monday to iron out differences and apologise on behalf of the youth league. A source said Auxillia was angry because there were reports that Matutu was using her name for personal gain. In other instances, Matutu had people also using his name in the same breathe as the First Lady.
