ZIMTA CEO Earns $11 000 A Month

The Chief Executive Officer of the Zimbabwe Teachers’ Association (ZIMTA) earns a cool monthly salary of $10,891 before taxes and all deductions.

A leaked payslip of Sifiso Ndlovu, the ZIMTA CEO, shows that he earns a basic salary of $3,800. The figure rises to almost $11 000 when allowances are added. That is more than twenty times what is taken home monthly by an ordinary teacher he represents.

For the preceding month of January, the ZIMTA CEO earned:

  1. Communication allowance of $2,000;
  2. Basic salary of $3,808;
  3. Fuel allowance of $780;
  4. Transport allowance of $200;
  5. Housing allowance of $260;
  6. Grocery allowance of $82;
  7. Representation allowance of $761; among other dues.

Commenting on the ‘shocking’ salary earned by the ZIMTA CEO, renowned award-winning journalist, Hopewell Chin’ono said:

This shows a classic catastrophic failure of our value system. How does a Teacher’s Association CEO earn $10900 in basic salary and allowances? What service are they producing that warrants such a ransom? We have lost our moral compass doing as politicians do
