Mnangagwa Chides Chamisa For 'Grandstanding And Playing Games With People'

President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Thursday attacked MDC leader Nelson Chamisa for what he calls “grandstanding and playing games with the people”.

Mnangagwa made the remarks in his briefing to diplomats accredited to Harare at State House. He said:

All the presidential candidates who have political maturity and a sense of leadership joined us.

I call on those who refuse to take part in the national dialogue to stop grandstanding and playing games with the lives of the people of our beloved Zimbabwe.

Let us join together and work for a prosperous and a united, peaceful Zimbabwe.

Continuous dialogue within our nation is an exercise I am determined as President to see through. What unites us as Zimbabwe is more than what could ever divide us.

The comments come after Chamisa last week rejected an invitation by Mnangagwa to meet at State House together with the rest of the losing presidential candidates in the 2018 election.

Chamisa demanded that Mnangagwa should engage him in meaningful dialogue. The government should stop harassing of all opposition activists forthwith, said Chamisa.
