Zimbabwe’s representatives in the 2019 Total CAF Champions League, FC Platinum, are optimistic that they will be given the greenlight to use Mandava stadium for their final home game against Esperance.
FC Platinum have been using Barbourfields Stadium in Bulawayo after Mandava was condemned for not meeting the minimum requirements to host CAF Group matches.
ZIFA spokesperson Xolisani Gwesela revealed that CAF has already inspected the three stadiums, that is, National Sports Stadium, Barbourfields and Mandava. Said Gwesela:
CAF has inspected the three stadiums in Zimbabwe and we are very optimistic that all of them will be homologated to host CAF matches.
We are not yet sure when they will communicate if the venues have passed or not but we do not think it will take longer.
If Mandava passes, it might be in time for FC Platinum to host Esperance in Zvishavane.
