ZIMRA Officials Silent Over Value Of Goods Destroyed By Fire In Beitbridge Warehouse

The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) has refused to reveal the value of goods destroyed when one of its warehouses at Beitbridge Border Post caught fire last Tuesday. ZIMRA said that the information was not for public consumption.

When asked for a comment on the fire incident, ZIMRA acting spokesperson, Inzwirai Muonwa had this to say:

The investigation report of the State warehouse fire that occurred in 2014 was not a public document and cannot be shared with the media.

The value of the goods destroyed in the 2014 warehouse fire related to specific taxpayers’ information that cannot be disclosed.

The value of the goods lost in the Red Star warehouse fire relates to specific taxpayer information that cannot be disclosed.

Dutiable goods belonging travellers who destroyed in the inferno. Last week’s fire follows two other fire incidents in 2014 and 2016 respectively.
