Women Called Upon To Wear All-black Clothes In Solidarity With Army Rape Victims

Women in Zimbabwe have been urged to wear black tomorrow (Thursday) in solidarity with women who have been raped by soldiers during the #ShutDownZim protests.

The call to wear all black is being organised by TsimbaKadzi with the aim of highlighting the wanton abuse of women and to stop the sexual violence being perpetrated by soldiers against women.

There have been widespread reports of masked men in military fatigues and balaclavas moving from house to house in high-density suburbs, raping women and commercial sex workers.

The army has however denied that such people are members of the military, instead of blaming ‘bogus elements’ bent on tarnishing the army’s image.
