Fastjet Plane Aborts Landing At Joshua Nkomo Airport Due To Poor Lighting, Forced To Return To Harare

A Fastjet Plane flying from Harare to Bulawayo on Tuesday night could not land at the Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo International Airport due to bad light on the runway. As a result, the plane was forced to make a U-turn and return to Harare.

Some of the passengers aboard the plane told NewZimbabwe.com that the plane circled over the airport for close to twenty minutes. One of the passengers said:

We were about 10 minutes to landing when crew members alerted us that the runway lights were not functioning.

The plane had to hover above for close to 20 minutes hoping the problem could be rectified but unfortunately, it was not addressed and the plane was forced to go back to Harare.

According to NewZimbabwe.com, a similar incident involving Air Zimbabwe happened in 2015 at the same airport.
