Watch: Chitungwiza MDC-Alliance Leaders Encourage Looting, Barricading

A video of apparent MDC Alliance leaders encouraging protestors to loot and barricade roads in Chitungwiza two weeks ago is circulating online. In the video, one of the leaders encourage protestors to barricade a road, to make it impossible for anyone in Chitungwiza to go to town, or for those in town to come to Chitungwiza.

Another leader, after shouting MDC Alliance slogan “Chisa Mbama Chisa” says to the crowd (translated)

We didn’t come to play.
This action we have started, doesn’t end until he ends. We’ll keep making the country hard to govern. You can’t build a country before making it hard to govern first. We’ll keep making it hard to govern so that it can be built. If you’re hungry go and take from any open shop, we’ll pay afterwards.

The leader also says, Mnangagwa is coming back to the country because of the crisis and that they’d like to meet him at the airport. The police crackdown that followed the protests and resulted in the loss of at least 12 people and allegations of rape by soldiers.
