Energy Mutodi Says Security Forces Brutal Crackdown Was A 'Prophecy' Of Mtukudzi's Death

The Deputy Minister for Information, Media and Broadcasting Services, Energy Mutodi said that the events of the past week were prophetic of the death of Oliver Mtukudzi. Nationwide protests began on Monday last week in which 12 people were killed after security forces descended on protestors. Writing on social media today, Mutodi said:

Events of the past week were prophetic of the death of a legend Oliver Mtukudzi. They were meant to allow him to give up his spirit saying, “I’ve United a Nation & built Peace. Yet my country remains troubled. I’ve done my bit & my works will continue to inspire many”. RIP Tuku.

Oliver Mtukudzi passed away on Wednesday afternoon at Avenues Clinic where he was admitted. The music legend’s death resulted in an outpouring of grief across the entire nation.
