Bindura Runs Out Of Water Treatment Chemicals

Bindura Municipality has appealed to Government for foreign currency to procure water treatment chemicals after the town went for days without running water last week after the chemicals ran out.

In an interview with The Herald, Bindura mayor Carlos Tokyo, who was flanked by councillors Oliver Mukombwe, Tongai Jack, Aniko Chikuwanyaga-Midzi, said the situation had been worsened by suppliers demanding forex. He said if the situation persists they will be forced to temporarily close down all council schools. Said Tokyo:

Council has run out of water treatment chemicals and residents have gone for days without water supplies. Most of the companies that supply the chemicals are demanding payment in forex. If the situation continues like this, we will be forced to temporarily close down all council schools until the situation improves.
