Anti-austerity protests are being held throughout the country as people are angry with the escalating cost of living and seeming government unconcern. A statement posted on the party’s Twitter handle today reads:
The MDC is in solidarity with peaceful citizen action across the country today. We urge citizens to remain peaceful and exercise restraint even when provoked by undemocratic forces and repressive apparatus.
Most businesses have shut their doors today and public transporters have stayed off the roads.
