Rural Teachers' Union Hires Street Kids To Boost Numbers In Anti-Muthuli Ncube Demo - Report Claims

The Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (ARTUZ) allegedly hired street kids on Friday in order to boost numbers in its ongoing demonstration at Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube’s offices in Harare.

The teachers reportedly staged a three-hour drama at the New Government Complex offices in Central Harare. Street children were brought in to blow vuvuzelas during the event.

This comes after members of ARTUZ embarked on a 275km march from Mutare to Harare in December last year. The teachers are demanding to be paid their salaries in US dollars.

On Friday last week, the government announced that it has offered civil servants a 10 per cent salary hike. The adjustment was flatly rejected by Unions who considered it paltry.
