2 Karoi ‘Prophets’ Convicted of Vehicle Theft

Two self-styled prophets from Karoi were convicted of vehicle theft after stealing a vehicle and trying to sell it.

Type Mutumwa (30) Jefta Zishiri (age not given), both of Chikangwe suburb in Karoi, denied the charge of theft of a motor vehicle when they appeared before Chrispen Mberewere. The duo will be sentenced today.

Prosecutor Munyonga Kuvarega said that the duo hired the taxi from in April 2018 from Tinashe Gorejena. They had established a ‘holy place’ near White Lodge in Beitbridge.

However, the two hired the same taxi on 4 May and never returned it. One of the thieves was arrested on June 3 in Karoi while trying to sell that taxi. The vehicle, which was worth $4000, was recovered.
