Mutodi Defends Masiyiwa After Cyber-backlash For Calling For The Removal Of Sanctions

Deputy Minister in the Ministry of Information, Media and Broadcasting Services, Energy Mutodi has thrown his weight behind Econet founder Strive Masiyiwa. Mayisiwa has been involved in a war of words with former University of Zimbabwe lecturer Professor Jonathan Moyo. Said Mutodi:

There is nothing wrong with Strive Masiyiwa supporting President Mnangagwa in the fight against sanctions. Zimbabweans must know when to fight and when to unite. We need everyone’s voice in the fight against sanctions including the opposition and Prof JN Moyo.

Masiyiwa recently called on Western countries to revoke targeted sanctions imposed against the country’s political elite. Reports suggest that Western countries will only consider removing the measures after the Zimbabwean government implements genuine reform.
