The government says that the number of doctors who are reporting for duty across the country is increasing by the day. There have been conflicting accounts on the so-called deal that was agreed between the government and striking doctors.
On Monday the Zimbabwe Hospital Doctors Association said in a statement that the doctors who had returned to work will resume the strike action since no agreement had been reached.
In a statement posted on Twitter, the Ministry of Information and Publicity again thanked the doctors who reported for duty. The statement reads:
Doctors continue to report for duty in all hospitals. Their numbers are improving everyday. Government commends and welcomes their selfless commitment to serve patients. Thank you.
The government revealed that at Marondera Provincial Hospital, Bindura Provincial Hospital, Gweru Provincial Hospital, Gwanda Provincial Hospital, and Mutare Provincial Hospital all the doctors reported for work. The following major hospitals had the following attendance figures; United Bulawayo Hospitals – 105, Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals – 71, Chitungwiza Central Hospital – 27, Mpilo Central Hospital – 77, and Harare Hospital – 29.
Is this a true story about doctors returning to work?
I just wish doctors could return back to work because its the citizens suffering and dying in hospitals. I can understand what they are going through about being paid the money that doesn’t meet your needs and so is all Zimbabweans. As the government is promising that all will be well, lets look and see where this is going. We are all getting this pinch.
I totally agree with you if you go to our general hospitals you will not find close relatives of ED, Chiwenga and Mthuli Ncube. For the sake of general citizens doctors should return to work.
