Norton Member of the House of Assembly (Independent) Themba Mliswa said that there was nothing wrong in the First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa meeting with striking doctors in order to resolve the ongoing industrial action.
Mnangagwa was condemned from various quarters for meeting the doctors since she is not a government official. What she did was considered a usurpation of executive powers, in the same manner in which the now infamous Grace Mugabe used to do. Writing on microblogging site Twitter on Monday, Mliswa said:
Amai has always had a passion for the health sector and there was nothing wrong with her meeting the doctors when they approached her, she has a role to play. It’s not a case of usurping powers but even at home, culturally, children approach mothers to get a message to their fathers.
