Police in Mutawatawa is in hot pursuit of a 34-year-old man suspected of killing his maternal grandmother. The man on the run allegedly accused his granny of casting an evil spell on his sister, resulting in her extended spinsterhood.
The suspected murderer was identified as Innocent Nyakabau of Tsige village. The village falls under the jurisdiction of Chief Chirinda in Maramba district, Mashonaland East Province.
Police have confirmed the murder. Speaking to the media on Sunday, Mashonaland East provincial police spokesperson Inspector Tendai Mwanza on Sunday said,
I confirm the death of a granny in Maramba after she was allegedly assaulted by her grandson over witchcraft accusations. The suspect is currently on the run and we appeal for anyone with information that might lead to his arrest to report to the nearest police station.
