ZANU PF Already Using Two-thirds Majority In Parliament To Frustrate MDC

The ruling party ZANU PF is already reaping the fruits of a two-thirds majority in parliament by obstructing changes being called for by the MDC on certain policy issues. This was revealed by Kuwadzana East MP, Charlton Hwende. The MDC wanted Parliament to scrap the 2 cents tax but after a vote was conducted, ZANU PF MPs used their parliamentary majority and voted for its retention. Hwende had this to say

Yesterday we lost the vote in Parliament for the scrapping off of the 2% transfer tax. The heated debate and voting were conducted late into the night.

We also lost the battle in Parliament last night to stop the illegal charging of VAT in USD$ instead of RTGs. Vehicle imports now attract duty in USD further making it difficult for poor people to own cars.
