Teachers Demand $3000 Salary increase Or US Dollar Equivalent

The Progressive Teachers’ Union (PTUZ) requested a $3000 salary increase or US dollar equivalent.

Led by President Dr T Zhou and Secretary Raymond Majongwe, PTUZ met with President Mnangagwa. PTUZ said the meeting with Mnangagwa was fruitful and historic as it was the first time they met the presidium face to face to present their grievances.

PTUZ also requested Government to introduce several new allowances, among them grade 7 allowance, invigilation allowance and ECD risk allowance. They also requested that teachers be exempted from paying tuition fees for their children.
