Protesting Rural Teachers Charged With Disorderly Conduct

Police have charged 14 Amalgamated Rural Teachers’ Union Of Zimbabwe (ARTUZ) leaders and members with disorderly conduct in contravention of Section 41(a) of the Criminal Law (Codification&Reform) Act for allegedly blocking a road in Ruwa while holding and waving placards during an anti-govt protest against poor salaries.

This comes after nine Union leaders were arrested by the police in Macheke on Saturday for criminal nuisance. However, they were released after the state found no basis for prosecuting them. Zimbabwe Lawyers Human Rights said:
