Cassava Smartech Unbundles From Econet, Successfully Lists On Stock Exchange

The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) has applauded Econet Wireless’s leading company EcoCash for advancing financial inclusion.

While addressing stakeholders at the Cassava Smartech Zimbabwe Listing on the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange (ZSE) on Tuesday, RBZ Deputy Governor, Dr Jesimen Chipika said

Today’s listing of the shares of Cassava Smart Tech Zimbabwe is a clear testimony that indeed the country is open for business.

l am aware that Cassava Smart Tech is part of the Econet family which over the years has continued to show the confidence in our economy through innovations and investments in Zimbabwe.

As monetary authorities, we are aware of the critical role that one of the pillars of Cassava smart tech Zimbabwe, EcoCash has played in this country in facilitating transactions and financial inclusion over the past few years Zimbabwe is way ahead of the other countries in the region.

Whenever we are presenting the EcoCash model globally, people know that there is no cash in Zimbabwe and we have told them that we don’t need cash since we have got EcoCash so what seemed like a disadvantage, we are glad Econet turned it into a big business opportunity.

The economy is ours so let’s keep pushing and we are excited with the move that Cassava Smart tech Zimbabwe Limited has taken.
