The Zimbabwe Hospital Doctors Association has said that the doctors’ strike is continuing.
In a press statement released on Wednesday ZHDA refuted utterances attributed to the Minister of Health the doctors have called off the strike. ZHDA said
Zimbabwe Hospital Doctors Association (ZHDA) wishes to inform its membership, key stakeholders, members of the press and public that the industrial action by doctors nationwide is still ongoing and has entered day 12.
This follows contrary reports unilaterally declared on state media alleging that; the grievances raised by doctors were being addressed and a return of normalcy in the health sector is to be expected. What is being witnessed is a gross misrepresentation of facts and complete disregard of the gravity of this matter. None of the grievances has been addressed and negotiations are being deliberately delayed and done in bad faith.
The nation may be keen to know, since the industrial action started there have been only two engagements with the Ministry of Health and no direct or documented response to address the grievances have been made.
