MDC MPs Should Not Ask Ministers Questions Until They Recognise Mnangagwa As President- Justice Minister

Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ziyambi Ziyambi yesterday accused MDC Alliance legislators of hypocrisy for demanding to have Cabinet ministers attend Parliament to respond to their questions when they did not want to recognise the appointing authority.

He said ministers should start declining to respond to questions from opposition parliamentarians until they recognised President Mnangagwa who won the July 30 harmonized elections. His comments come after MDC Alliance legislators refused to stand up when Mnangagwa walked into the August House to follow the 2019 National Budget Statement presentation by Finance and Economic Development Minister Professor Mthuli Ncube. Said Ziyambi:

Thank you Mr. Speaker Sir.  I just want to respond to the Hon. Members and indicate that Ministers according to the Constitution are appointed by the President and they serve at the pleasure of the President.  The Hon. Members do not recognise the President and I am surprised. Thank you Mr. Speaker Sir.  We cannot continue in this House with hypocrites.  You cannot on one hand say you do not recognise the President and you expect a Minister who has been appointed by the President to answer questions. I request Mr. Speaker Sir that from today until they issue a public apology to the President, no Minister is going to answer a question from this side of the House.  I thank you.
