The MDC led by Nelson Chamisa will have a standing Committee meeting today to discuss various issues. The party’s spokesperson Jacob Mafume said that the issue of vice president Elias Mudzuri will not be on the agenda. Mudzuri has been in the headlines of late after he was hounded out an MDC function held in Harare last Thursday. Party youths accused him of hobnobbing with ‘the enemy’ after he attended a parliamentary function at the State House against the advice of his party colleagues. In an interview with Newsday, Mafume had this to say
The standing committee meets every week and it has a set agenda that deals with the crippling political and economic crisis in the country.
We are dealing with that and any other issue that might arise and unrelated to the suffering of the people of Zimbabwe and the wellbeing of the party will have to be justified in the context of what is happening in the nation.
