Reports indicate that a Masvingo Boarding School, Riverton Academy is set to hike school fees for the first term of 2019. According to a leaked post-dated letter addressed to parents with children at the boarding school, fees will now be denominated in United States dollars. For those who will make payments using RTGS they will have to part with more than four times the ammount paid in US dollars. For instance, secondary school boarders will have to pay US$2 000 while those paying using RTGS will fork out $9 600.

Measures should be taken to punish the school authority. The general pubic are not earning US dollars so it will be a burden for parents to purchase the US dollars on the parallel market of which the activity now attracts a penalty of up to 10 years in jail.
