Majongwe Warns MDC Against Disregarding War Veterans' Utterances

Progressive Teachers’ Union of Zimbabwe (PTUZ), Raymond Majongwe said that the opposition should not take lightly the utterances made by war veterans secretary-general Victor Matemadanda. Matemadanda stroked a raw nerve yesterday when he called on Parliament to amend the constitution so that the minimum age for a Presidential candidate be raised for the current 40 years to 52 years.

The war veterans did not explain why they settled for 52 years and this has been construed as a way to block MDC president Nelson Chamisa from contesting in the next presidential election since he will be 45 years old in 2023. Writing on microblogging site Twitter, Majongwe had this to say

Cdes,Matemadanda is not just an ordinary Warvet. He was instrumental in removing Mugabe so his statements cannot be dismissed as hogwash. Take those statements seriously,
