ZANU PF Planned To Bus Supporters From Uzumba To Infiltrate Demo; MDC Claims
MDC national organising secretary and Mkoba House of Assembly representative, Amos Chibaya said that ZANU PF had made plans to bus its supporters to Harare so that they infiltrate the MDC demonstration. On Agust 1 suspected MDC supporters demonstrated in Harare, and cases of vandalism were reported. Eventually, the army was called in to disperse the protestors and live ammunition was used resulting in the death of 6 people from gunshot wounds. Speaking yesterday at the party’s headquarters, Chibaya said
We did receive reports that Zanu PF people are coming from Uzumba and other places. We have since reported the matter to the police and I am sure police will handle them because as highlighted, our demonstration will be peaceful and we will not tolerate any violence. If there is anybody who is going to engage in violence, our marshals will do what we call citizens’ arrests.
