MDC vice chairperson and House of Assembly representative for Harare East Tendai Biti has questioned the credibility of some of the commissioners in the Motlanthe Commission. While giving his testimony before the Commission on Monday this week, Biti said
I have a problem with…Manyeruke because it is not in dispute that she is a member of the ruling party. It’s not in dispute that before the election, she appeared in recorded adverts … for the ruling party pitching for…Mnangagwa.
The question is not whether she will be biased but the question is what is the perception of persons outside and certainly her perception is not correct.
I also have a problem with the barrister from the UK. He is of a strong association with military and military governments. There are probably over a million lawyers in the United Kingdom. Is it that he was chosen purely because of his association with the military junta?
I also have a problem with the General of the Republic of Tanzania. The intelligence we have in our party is that he strongly associated with our vice president. So what’s the perception to the general public… I would have thought that what was simply needed were neutral people like Kgalema Motlanthe and Chief Emeka Anyaouku, people with no bone in the fight.
The whole world is questioning the integrity of the Motlanthe Commission.
Certainly this commission is historical and exposes in devastating terms the formerly untouchable ZANU PF lagery and many other hidden very toxic skeletons. It divulges the unrepentant culprits as to who contributed and still contributes to the escalating / spiralling underdevelopment and impoverishment of rural and urban Zimbabweans and Africans across continent Mother Africa.
Regardless of the historical significance in ushering a new era in Zimbabwe and African history, that the commission even then lacks integrity arises from the controversial record since 1980 which has deteriorated now…the last kicks of a really dying donkey as the whole process has been one of degeneration of almost not only every sector but also the human dignity and ego of every Zimbawean and African. Zimbabwe and Africa today stand a classically betrayed generation and race by its own liberation struggles and so self acclaimed heroes.
