Lupane Man Falls Into 49-Metre Deep Well, Colleagues Use Snake-bite As Cover-up

The story of a Lupane man who died from a snake bite in a 49-metre deep well has been proved to have been a cover-up. For the past few days, there have been reports that Sandile Mguni entered the well at Glen Moyo’s homestead in Mkarabuli village under chief Mabhikwa in order to clean the dirt that had accumulated at the bottom. When he reached the bottom of the well he allegedly screamed as the sounds of a hissing snake were heard.

It took more than a week for the body to be retrieved by the Hwange Fire Brigade after local rescuers were afraid of getting into the well for fear of the “snake”. It has been revealed that Mguni could have fallen into the well headlong after the rope he was using broke. His colleagues used the snake theory as a cover-up for their negligence. According to Luka Mguni, the late man’s uncle

They narrated to us the story of the snake which no one else has seen. The postmortem says that he had injuries on the collarbone and head which suggests that he fell and we’re unhappy because of the fabricated report they gave us. We didn’t bring the postmortem because police wanted it for investigations.
