Warriors Back Home After Reports Of Crash-landing In Ghana

The Warriors are safely back in the country after reports of a crash landing in Ghana yesterday were dismissed by ZIFA. Reports on social media earlier suggested that the Warriors encountered problems with their plane that forced it to crash-land in Ghana. ZIFA communications manager Xolisani Gwesela clarified on the issue. He said the Warriors plane experienced unexpected turbulence as a result of bad weather. The Warriors arrived back home around 3:45 pm yesterday afternoon. Gwesela said

Warriors travelling from Liberia including myself are safe and sound. What we encountered was just an unexpected turbulence between Sierra Leone and Ghana (around Cote d’Ivoire).

This is very normal with planes, especially when the weather is bad. Our plane never crash-landed in Accra as this is part of its route.

We have since arrived home safely. The delegation was minus Kadewere, Musona, Mudimu and Nakamba, who had immediately flown to their European bases after Sunday’s match.
