Mwonzora Says MDC Does Not Regret Supporting November 2017 'Military Coup'

MDC secretary-general Douglas Mwonzora told Newsday that his party does not regret taking part in the process which led to Mugabe’s removal from power. MDC supported the move to impeach Mugabe in Parliament last year when the military had put him under house arrest after briefly seizing power. Of late, revisionists have started to blame MDC for its ‘naivete’ in helping ZANU PF resolve its succession crisis. Mwonzora had this to say

The MDC does not regret Mugabe’s removal. It represents the removal of a dictatorship that was morphing into a dynasty. The fact that those who replaced Mugabe are not effective develop-mentalists is not a fault of the MDC. We are working to remove the last vestiges of Mugabe’s dictatorship through democratic means.
