A goods train which derailed near Beitbridge on Sunday is reported to be still at the crash site. Modalities are still being worked out to remove the crashed locomotive and to repair the damage tracks. Personnel is said to be at the worksite in different capacities and part of the goods train which fell beyond the crash site is said to have been towed away.
According to ZBC News, an SOS has been sent to experts from Harare and South Africa for them to bring in heavy equipment which includes cranes that have the required capacity for the task. The locomotives are said to weigh over 112 tonnes each. The carriers are also estimated to weigh 70 tonnes including the cargo.
