The bus driver who was involved in the accident which resulted in the death of fifty people near Rusape last week has been denied bail. Smart Express bus driver Cosmas Munotyeyi Marembo (50) has been denied bail by Rusape magistrate Gift Manyika who said he is a flight risk and his safety is not guaranteed out of custody given the nature of the accident. The accident occurred when Bolt Cutter and Smart Express buses sideswipped near the Rusape toll gate.
Marembo is facing one count of culpable homicide and two counts on Road Traffic act i.e failing to report an accident within 24 hours and failing to stop after a road traffic accident and render assistance.
