Parly Speaker Urges Public To Hold Govt To Account On Mega Deals

Speaker of the House of Assembly, Jacob Mudenda has called on the publicand parliamentarians alike to hold the government to account over the implementation of the so-called mega-deals signed with foreign investors. Mudenda bemoaned the lack of implementation of these deals and cited the case of Ziscosteel. The deal was signed a few years ago and entailed the revival of Ziscosteel by a Chinese firm R and F. The Chinese firm would invest $1 billion. Mudenda said

Let us fight the disease of inertia. We signed an agreement that Zisco should be rehabilitated, the implementation period is anathema to the economic (revival). If Zisco does not arise, the industrialisation in terms of steel trade will not happen.
