Former Minister of Information Communication Technology and Cyber Security, Supa Mandiwanzira will appear in court tomorrow.
He is facing two counts of contravening section 174 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act, Chapter 9:23 “Criminal Abuse of office”. The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) issued a statement on Tuesday confirming Mandiwanzira’s arrest. Allegations are Mandiwanzira awarded an auditing contract to Megawatt Company without going to tender. He allegedly ordered Netone to pay US$4 million for the service and $1 million for consultancy. The payments were allegedly stopped by the Procurement Regulating Authority of Zimbabwe as Megawatt company had been awarded the contract without following procedure.
Mandiwanzira is accused of seconding Tawanda Chinembiri to the POTRAZ Board without following due process. POTRAZ subsequently lost US$35 000 through allowances drawn by Chinembiri.
