I Am Being Persecuted, Prosecution Is Meant To Embarrass Me – David Parirenyatwa Tells High Court

Former Minister of Health and Child Care David Parirenyatwa has appealed to the High Court for a stay of prosecution alleging that he is being persecuted. Parirenyatwa who is facing charges of criminal abuse of office has accused acting Prosecutor-General (PG), Kumbirai Hodzi of seeking to embarrass him by what he termed as “confused allegations”. Part of his application to the High Court reads,

The second and third respondents charged me for contravening section 174 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act. I have not been furnished with a trial date to date. In fact, there is no docket on which I could be tried. What is very clear is that the second and third respondents arrested me in order to embarrass me on confusing and confused allegations which do not make sense at all…I believe that I am being persecuted and not prosecuted and this is grossly unfair, to say the least.
